He might go early, but not ahead of Drysdale.

Why not? Who do they have in the system? Nothing that screams future starter.

You have to keep in mind this isn't like the NFL draft, where if Askarov stepped in immediately he's a #3 goalie. He's 2 or 3 seasons away, Rinne will be retired and who knows if Saros can be the #1 without Rinne as his support system

I think the Preds have a lot of faith in Saros becoming their next starter. As for who else they have in the system:
Niclas Westerholm, signed out of Finland
Connor Ingram, received in a trade
Ethan Haider, drafted
A couple more(I’m not a Preds fan)

Saros will likely be the starter next year and Ingram is a really good goalie prospect

Sure but you can never have enough good goalies. MTL was criticized for picking Price because they had Yann Danis. Most consider Askarov to be the best goaltending prospect since Price, he likely has higher upside than Ingram

do you think Flames should be selecting him if they loose the play-in and get 12th or 13th?

I love Wolf as a prospect, but I think they'd strongly consider Askarov. They were really high on Spencer Knight, so I would think they like Askarov. The league is shifting more and more to a tandem league, so I would be fine with Askarov being the pick.
