Domi isn't even playing center anymore because Suzuki took his spot, but anyways

Ryan O'Reilly (both times), Brayden Schenn, Nazem Kadri, Matt Duchene, Paul Statsny, Ryan Kesler, and none of them fetched a top 10 pick. All next years & conditional picks. Domi isn't as good as half of those guys were either.

You obviously know nothing about Domi or the Habs! Domi has played 3rd line center nearly all year! That is like playing with Vessy and Simmons and still being on pace for 50+ points. As for the other 6 guys listed above they were all traded to contending teams not to teams finishing up a rebuild therefore the pick was always going to be a late pick! Domi is better than Kessler and I would say he and Kadri are pretty close to even. Do you think that if the Avs were a team trying to continue to improve their rebuild they would have said no to the Kadri trade if their pick had been 8th? I seriously doubt that and the same can be said for any of the other players listed above. Only picks that they would not traded for any of those guys is maybe top 3 and even then some of them might have traded a top 3 pick for a guy like O'Reilly or Schenn.

Miller isn't a center, and miller didn't have a 72 point season at the time of the trade. Domi is one season removed from that.

Domi would cost the 8th overall pick.

and MD is ~ 2 years younger as well

Well domi was hurt, and even if he doesnt come back to play center, he showed he can. Some of those centers were traded a long long time, as I mentioned, they are not traded often. O'Reilly from buffalo to STL was a horrible trade, not sure if that was a great example.

Domi has been juggled between center and wing this whole year. He's struggled at center and has performed better on the wing. All those trades happened within the last 6 years. If you want to count that as a long long time.

From COL to Buf, they gave up a lot besides the pick, hence why it wasnt a top 10. You have rentals on there, which the value is waaay different on expiring contracts.

That's the whole point. All of the trade packages for those players included everything but a top 10 pick. Domi isn't getting a top 10 pick. He's struggled this year and is a RFA looking for a new contract. If he is traded, he'll get a package of conditonal picks / prospects / top 4D.

So youre just throwing **** at the wall, most of it, isnt even comparable.

Both ROR & Domi were in similar situations. Both players that need new contracts that would be traded before the draft, except ROR was exclusively playing center at the time + younger.

Yes. And Orielly fetch a lot of higher end prospects. So yes he didnt get a top 10. But he got two picks, 2 former first, and a former early 2nd.

Why? Can you elaborate?

A late 2021 1st + 2021 3rd + a prospect who looks promising but likely won't make the Avs roster anytime soon seems like a solid trade proposal considering that Tatar comes with a reasonable extension.

In terms of fit Tatar is exactly the sort of top 6 forward I'd hope we would add, since he's a good 200ft possession player with good playmaking skills that would be perfect next to two shooters in Burakovsky and Kadri. At $5.25m his AAV and 5 yer term would also be at a manageable level to fit into the roster going forwards.

I mean I've seen trades where Montreal fans trade him for a 1st so that definitely makes this seem like an over payment given Beaucage looks like a promising prospect

Unless those were mid-1st's I don't think the Montreal fans who proposed those trades accurately represented his value. A 1st + prospect seems like a pretty accepted base for top rental forwards, and with an extension an extra 3rd seems plausible.

Dude he's been off and on center and wing the whole year. Last ten games he's had 7 at C and 3 at W. He's been a top 6 winger / bottom 6 center. There's a reason he's been at 3C and every Habs fan has him getting traded in their armchair GMs. He's not getting you a top 10 pick.

Top 10 picks are extremely valuable. That's why they rarely ever get moved for another player. Just like the whole rumor that MTL was going to trade us the 3rd overall for ROR. And the countless other trade rumors for top 10 picks that don't happen. We've had enough top 10 picks to know they don't get moved. No, I don't think the Avs would've traded an 8th pick if they had one for Kadri.

Yea and that's what I'd expect a package for Domi to look like. Something like Montour, Mitts, Pekar, next year lottery protected 1st or our 2nd this year for Domi & Mete.

I mean it depends on how good the prospect is. I mean I don't think this is a massive overpay by Colorado and acquiring Tatar could give you a really solid chance at winning the cup so I could see the reason in doing this.

We don't have prospects at that caliber to give to Montreal like we did when we traded for O'Reilly

Juggled playing center LMAO! he started on the wing yes but was moved to 3C when KK got injured and he was never moved off of Center after that. Don't know why someone who doesn't watch the Habs thinks he knows more than actual Habs fans when in reality You don't!

Also ROR's trade is wayyy different than Domi's proposal here! Not only did the package include 2 former 1st round picks but it was also a package from a contending team. If the Blues were a rebuilding or bubble team they would have given up a 4th-10th OVA for him easily. So saying that none of them got a top 10 is a grossly misleading statement, They didn't get one because of the packages BUT they could have gotten one IF any of those teams were not cup contenders.

You can literally go check and see Domi on wing in the lineup. I don't know what to tell ya man. Just because your a Habs fans doesn't mean you know what the lineups are for each game.

You really selling Berglund as a former 1st round pick lmao? No rebuilding team would've given a 4th-10th ova pick for him. The Habs didn't give their #3 for him either.

It's not grossly misleading. You're really undervaluing a top ten pick. Go check how many times a top 10 pick has been traded for a player.

Miller took 718 Face-offs this year 2nd on the Canucks so I’m sure he played some games at center. 8th overall will be a good player for us in 2 years, Mojo as 2c would be a better option long term.
Max Domi was on pace for 51 points.
Johansson 41 first time playing center in 8 years. Now Domi is better, but that cost is way too high in my opinion especially giving up Tage Thompson who I think they are high on.

As hockey fans discuss potential trades and player statistics, it's important to remember that health and safety should always be a top priority. While we may be excited for the future of our teams, it's crucial to maintain clean and sanitized environments in our homes and workplaces to prevent the spread of harmful germs and bacteria. By utilizing professional one-time cleaning services and junk removal company, we can ensure that we're doing our part to protect ourselves and our communities, while also enjoying the thrill of the game. Let's all work together to stay healthy and safe, both on and off the ice.
