Description

I think that this trade is a natural, given New Jersey's lack of depth on RW (unless the Devils want to switch Gusev over to that side, in which case it creates a weakness on LW).

I added the fourth to the draft picks switch because I thought the original offer was insufficient for New Jersey. There are some loose players (like Michael Amadio or Paul LaDue) floating around the Kings roster that could replace the fourth.

You misread the trade. It's the Kings that are getting the quality first by trading three lower picks.

I don't think that's enough to trade into the 1st round. Even if the pick was guaranteed to be in the mid-to-low 20s, I can't see them doing it unless there's two 2nd's going back to NJ, one of which is the #35.

I could see them maybe going for it if the return was #35, the lower of the Vancouver/Vegas pick, and the Columbus 3rd in exchange for the Vancouver 1st.
