Why would Buffalo do the Carolina trade? Necas Isn’t even a center. And the first round pick added too?!

Im not sure how to feel about the Car deal. Reinhart would score in the Canes lineup. His 2 way game isn’t great and he’ll be expensive to keep which makes Svech and Dougie harder to keep next season. The 2021 pick will be really good although the draft wont be great.

I don’t see the Canes letting Necas go though

He is a center. Rod Brind’Amour doesn’t play rookies as centers.

I don’t see the Yotes giving up their #1 goalie.

But this trade is very one sided. A 60-70 point RW traded for a 2nd year player, along with Carolina getting a top 10 pick.

2021 1st rounder and Marty Necas is dynamic!

I know most likely a top 10 pick. But luckily Gardiner would waive his NTC.

OK, let's take Necas out of the trade Reinhart for Gardiner. What would you add to make that deal work?

Tbh, I don’t know that I could come up with a suitable offer knowing that you are trying to be competitive. We could Dzingel and a good future. That wouldn’t interest me if I was in your shoes so, I don’t know that we are good partners for that kind of trade. David Cotton of interest? Im pretty high on him and think he has a real option at making our roster next year. He could be a center for y’all next year but not a 2C, yet.

Dzingel, Gardiner and a prospect for Reinhart?
If this is what you mean, what prospect or do you want to throw in a pick instead?
Gardiner and Dzingel are not perfect fits but they do fill in holes in the line up.

We have David Cotton. BC product that has a strong 2 way game and lots of leadership. Being 22 he'll be ready next season. I think he has a good shot at our 4C spot if we move a forward and changed around the current group. He is the most ready C prospect we have. He has a lot more potential than a 4C as he is a good scorer. I think we are getting into quantity for quality.

Cotton, Dzingel and Gardiner for Reinhart?
I know most Sabre fans would cringe but that is interesting.
Let's simplify the deal Gardiner and what pick for Reinhart?

If we had a more ready C prospect i think we would be good partners. We dont at this point.

If Toronto wins the lotto and we have 2 number ones, I could give our 1st rounder next year depending on his salary requirement. If it is more than 7 mil AAV, we wouldnt be able to afford it with everything else going on.

My whole point was to get Necas, I threw Gardiner in because He's committed for 3 more seasons and a bit of an albatross as far as Carolina's D goes. He's somewhat expensive, they seem to have Defense depth and would prefer to resign Dougie.
