Separate it.

I'd argue Bouchard is not enough for Letang who is still a number 1 D in the league. He'll get Norris votes this year (that doesn't mean hell win the Norris but he'll likely be 10-15th in voting).

Then look at the traded. A cap dump and Larsson is at best worth nothing (ie at BEST Larsson's positive value balances Neal's negative value), but in reality it's not. In this cap hell post COVID Neal's contract is an even bigger anchor.

So do you think it's worth it for Pittsburgh to trade Simon and Murray for neutral or negative value?

Simon is a high possession guy who could be a real cheap option for the cap strapped Oilers. Can play on the top 6. Might not score at Neals clip (or even close) but he contributes in other ways for pennies on the dollar.

I would agree with you on that however apparently nobody agrees with me about that... But Bouchard I think is the future and a more responsible player. He'll be the penguins #1 D and he is a RHD. Bouchard/Marino on the right side is sick. I think Neal has positive value but only if the team has the cap for him. Plus I feel like Malkin needs a little motivation. Nothing gets Malkin going like playing with Neal. And we are taking back cap which is of value to the Oilers. We are also taking back money in Larsson to open up a spot and cap for Letang. But Bouch, Neal, and Larsson hold way more value than just Simon and Letang. So that's where Murray's value makes up the difference and fills the cap void created. I would also be for swapping 1sts (1 spot)... If we don't get 1OV, I think there's going to be some nice options at 15.

But given that Letang would only have 1 year left after next season.... you are getting a decade of Bouchard. I wish he had like 25 games to his resume but I feel like he is a can't miss prospect. Could be wrong.
