Some Leaf fan already traded Marner to the Avs retaining 2M for 2 1st rd picks. I’m going to have to insist all TOR ACGM’s include this trade 🤪

Parayko would be the LAST guy the Blues would trade. He's the future #1 RD especially if Petro leaves. No way we're moving him, and especially not for that woeful package coming back.

If the Wild made that deal they would be either (1) in denial that their window is closed and they're still trying to "go for it" or (2) Marner is the centerpiece of that future rebuild, and this move comes with 2-3 others where they deal established players for picks and prospects.

Gotta be upfront about my current state of insanity before people read this craziness.

We're Minnesotans. It's been so long since a Big 4 sports team made a championship series/game that we're in denial about everything. Desperation set in years ago. Since the last time we've been in a championship round, St Louis has won 2 World Series, 1 Stanley Cup, and 1 Superbowl. Also been to 2 more World Series and 1 more Superbowl in which they lost...So please understand our constant denial and desperation to win.

I hope you guys land #1 tonight, I really do. The Suter/Parise gamble just didn't pay off and not enough hits in the prospect pool pipeline through all of this. Disastrous expansion draft too.

I think Guerin's first job is to stop the bleeding. Nobody 30 or older should be acquired or signed for you guys, just as a total rule.

Agree on the 30+ signings. That Zucc signing last year was atrocious and may have screwed us up way worse than before. Also, I'm not looking forward to the expansion draft and seeing our already mediocre roster take a hit.

And those contracts to Parise/Suter are looming large right now. I really wish the CBA was settled in 2011 instead of 2012. We signed Parise and Suter to 13 year contracts and after the new CBA, the max contract was 8 years. Plus, I believe it was 7 years for UFA's. Had the CBA gone into effect 1 year earlier...those contracts would expire at year's end. I can only imagine the state of the Wild if they were only able to sign for 7 and not 13 years. I don't regret them signing Parise/Suter...but I do regret the term dished out.

It really is our own fault as to why we are mediocre though. Some bad signings, some bad trades, some bad drafting, and a complete unwillingness to commit to a rebuild when it's clear we need one.

Yea you pretty much nailed it. The worst pill to swallow is having to protect those 2 guys in the upcoming expansion because of the NMC. As with anything though, had you won a cup in that stretch and Suter and Parise played big roles it would've been totally worth it. You didn't and so it's not.

I hope Guerin recognizes where they're at. It looks like he does (Hence the Zucker trade). The Zuccarello deal was what sunk Paul Fenton and it's almost indefensible. That Fiala trade was sweet though eh?
