I think that's fair offer for Virtanen. I think Vancouver accepts

I'd want MTL's 1st if Drouin is the return. Actually I'd rather do this:

Klefbom for Drouin + 1st

... but not until next season is over and Jones has proved himself.

I doubt Montreal would include a first. I’d sooner move nurse than klef. Between the two klef better all round guy in my opinion. Klef signed beauty deal is cheaper than nurse now and nurse is up for another contract before klef don’t see getting cheaper. Nurse takes more questionable penalties also has more brain farts with short passes leaving zone. I find his style doesn’t mesh with the team as much under Tippett. Strategy has been quick passes up centre ice to spring the forwards which I like but nurse biggest strength is actually transporting the puck himself which he is good at but not really what the team is looking for him to do. In all honesty after that play in which I’m trying to not place too much judgement on cause half the team slept threw it but I think russell was 3x the player nurse was.

Nurse is a workhorse, I think most people don't appreciate him enough. Here are some stats from the past 3 years combined:

GP
DN: 235 (100%)
OK: 189 (80%)

5v5 TOI
DN: 4476:33 (2nd in the NHL)
OK: 3361:10 (76th among defensemen)

5v5 Points
DN: 77 (7th, tied with Victor Hedman)
OK: 38 (104th, tied with 5 players)

On-Ice with Connor McDavid
DN: 3.62 GF/60 - 2.88 GA/60 = +0.74 G/60 (55.68 GF%)
OK: 3.28 GF/60 - 3.23 GA/60 = +0.05 G/60 (50.40 GF%)

On-Ice without McDavid
DN: 2.01 GF/60 - 2.56 GA/60 = -0.55 G/60 (44.08 GF%)
OK: 1.49 GF/60 - 2.55 GA/60 = -1.06 G/60 (36.91 GF%)

I'm thinking it'll be much easier for Jones / Broberg to fill Klefbom's shoes than it will be to fill Nurse's.

3 years combined played only one year under Tippett system which perhaps the advance stats from this year suggest differently than my eye test I just see a system being built that doesn’t complement nurses game as much as before. I just don’t have the same level of confidence in nurse as I do with klef. Personal preference

Nurse's numbers are better than Klefbom's this year too. Here is this year isolated:

GP
DN: 71 (100%)
OK: 62 (87%)

5v5 TOI
DN: 1371:13 (2nd in the NHL)
OK: 1110:16 (65th among defensemen)

5v5 Points
DN: 26 (7th, tied with 4 players, including McAvoy and Hedman)
OK: 15 (70th, tied with 8 players, including Pionk and Ristolainen)

On-Ice with Connor McDavid
DN: 3.70 GF/60 - 3.50 GA/60 = +0.20 G/60 (51.39 GF%)
OK: 3.70 GF/60 - 3.10 GA/60 = +0.60 G/60 (54.55 GF%)

On-Ice without McDavid
DN: 2.10 GF/60 - 2.80 GA/60 = -0.70 G/60 (42.86 GF%)
OK: 1.90 GF/60 - 2.86 GA/60 = -0.96 G/60 (40.00 GF%)

I doubt montreal gives away their 1 round pick but if its nurse theres a chance they take the risk. I'd be shocked to see them give it up with drouin for someone as injury prone as klefbom and who is really just a second pairing guy.

VAN decline, they would rather keep Virtanen. He is a 20 goal scorer who can play anywhere in the lineup plus provides a physical presence.
