i dont think philly can fit it in cap wise

They didn't really "let him go". He was a prospect camp invitee and an undrafted free agent who could sign wherever he wanted. But yeah, not getting him signed was clearly a mistake now.

As for fitting Gaudreau's cap in for Philly, you'd think it's be pretty easy to move JVR somewhere else which would be all it would take.

I'm just needling... He was at your rookie camp and wasn't invited to your training camp. He came to ours and we signed him in short order. He was never really yours, but you had the inside track.

Not signing him was a mistake but you win some you lose some.

Philly doesn't do it. I like Gaudreau, but Philly doesn't need him.

They're on a roll right now and that's without Lindblom, Patrick and still have frost, brink, Allison, ratcliffe and a lot of other top 6 or top 9 forward prospects.

JVR is obviously the odd man out: traded or picked up in expansion, but I don't see the need or want of a 6mil 2 year contract of Gaudreau, let alone for the package you lay out. Philly as you say is loaded, but if all healthy the LWs are: Giroux, Lindblom, Farabee and JVR, Philly doesn't need nor can fit Gaudreau.

Even without a healthy Lindblom or Farabee not evolving, Philly would counter with JVR, a 1st, and a good dman prospect (Hogberg, Wylie?).
