It doesn't matter how many lived up to the hype. You had the option to pick the best prospect 4 times in this decade alone. Incompetence isn't same as "best case scenario doesn't happen to oilers".
Don't forget you had the 3rd overall, 7th overall, 4th overall, 10th overall, 8th overall besides the 4 1st overall.
You just have to feel bad for those prospects, that get picked by coilers.

Ignoring the point the coilers won multiple lotteries and got the best young player, youre saying the best case scenario for this sad sack of team is to sell another team damaged goods? You realize other teams have medical professionals on their staff too?

Rating All Brad Treliving Trades
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>C21</b></div><div>How is it a bad trade?</div></div>
He bought the hype on Hanifan. He has had to play top 4 but most nights he looks like a 3rd pair guy.
Lindholm is good (can excuse the Houdini act for these playoffs since its a joke of a playoffs anyways).
Hamilton is a stud top pair DMan
Fox is already a top 4 Dman and only moving up
Ferland walked away from them so meh.
Giving up Fox in that trade was stupid. He shouldve been traded on his own to NYR.

he really isn't. You find out where he was going to sign (NYR) and you trade him there. He still had a year of college so it was stay in College for another year and wait or ask the Rangers to give up something decent for him.
Stop making excuses for bad trades.

Rating All Brad Treliving Trades
Those are just awful trades. You can't sit there and say we picked Dube with the pick so its a win. Giving up:
3rd for Bollig
2nd for Elliott
3rd/5th for Stone
2nd for Lazar
3rd+ for Smith
1st/2nd/2nd for Hamonic
4th for Fantenberg
4th for Forbort
3rd for Gustafsson
1st/2nd/2nd for Hamilton
Thats a lot of picks and only useful player out of the whole list was Hamilton. Smith was garbage, Elliott was trash etc etc...
Thats 1st, 1st, 2nd, 2nd, 2nd, 2nd, 2nd, 2nd, 3rd, 3rd, 3rd, 3rd, 4th, 4th, 5th = Two 1st, Six 2nds, Four 3rds, Two 4th, One 5th.
Picks that came in
2nd/3rd for Glencross
2nd for Baertchi
2nd/4th for Hudler
2nd+ for Russell
6ht for Jones
4th for Hamonic
3rd for Lucic
4th for Frolik
All junk...Adding up to Four 2nds, Two 3rds, Three 4th, One 6th...
Net loss: Two 1st, Two 2nds, Two 3rds...4ths/5ths/6ths are just a wash...
For a badly constructed team that is just awful. Thats a fail grade. I don't know how a GM still keeps his job after that.

Id say Debrusk and a 2nd with a conditional 3rd that becomes a 2nd if he gets say 60 points</div></div>
Keep in mind Boston picks are late. Also in Boston he doesn't have to carry the offence like in Calgary. He will be sheltered and likely do really well.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheFlamingC</b></div><div>U probably could get 3rd overall and Brannstrom for Tkachuk. Tkachuk is only a year older than Brannstrom and way better so they'd have to add from there. If you look at 3rd overall picks from the last 10 years, only about half are anywhere close to Tkachuk. You might have to add a pick on our side or a prospect however because the 3rd overall pick and Brannstrom will both likely be good to great players</div></div>
Possibly but a top 5 pick is pretty good plus other goodies. Ill take top 3 if they offered but I think this is fair for both sides.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>benjgc</b></div><div>CBJ decline. We're not giving up an exciting, ELC forward in any deal that doesn't bring back Tkachuk, Monahan or Gaudreau. That said, please provide a little better context as to why the Flames would dump Gaudreau for a player that's had one good season in his career, as well as throwing in a second-rounder in a deep draft. Hertl was on pace for approx. 60 points this season prior to the pause, which is roughly on par with Gaudreau's worst output in years. Sure we save $1mn for the next couple of seasons, though trading him to a division rival is the real head-scratcher. Why would the Flames do this deal? "Watch him play" is not a good rationale...

I think it helps the Jackets and Flames. He can play 2nd line there and Flames can add another poop disturber who is looking to rebound and get out of his long term commitment.

Zucker trade part 2 and more
This is terrible.
Martin Jones for 1st and two 2nds? I wouldnt even do Jankowski straight up for Jones and I would give away Janko for free. Jones is awful.
Why would you want to take Jack Johnson's awful contract?
I don't care for Hamonic but you give him away for nothing and then turn around and pick up another awful contract in Zucker while playing up a first rounder.
This is one of the worst trade scenarios ive seen. You can't possibly be a Flames fan.

Flames Trade w Ott Det CBJ ANA
Still just 25, Monahan goes back home to junior hockey town. Ott gets a really good C and Calgary unites Tkachuk brothers.
Anaheim has always had interest in Bennett, Kase gives Calgary some skill. Change of scenery for both guys.
CBJ can use some C help and get the more skilled player. Anderson gives Calgary size in the bottom six.
The least realistic is likely the Larkin-Gaudreau swap. But both are struggling and Gaudreau I think at this point wants to play closer to home. Larkin is 23, Gaudreau 26 so both in their prime. Yzerman isn't afraid of using small forwards with his history in Tampa. Larkin gives Calgary top 6 more speed and size, Gaudreau gives Det additional skill.
If Hall sings here for that amount great, if not you move M.Tkachuk back to LW and promote Mangipanne (Whos already part of that line) or Anderson.
What do you guys think?

Maroon wasn't going to sign for 1.75 mill in Edmonton.
Hall was never going to win MVP playing behind wonder boy. He was placed in position to do well in NJ, wasn't gonna happen in Edmonton.
That defence is awful. Oilers Schultz top 2? Benning top 4? Bear top 6?

Tkachuk deserves better linemates the Backlund and Frolik. You could add something to Baklund to get Skinner.
I doubt Brodie is worth that much right now, I would be happy if Brodie can return Bjugstad+2nd.
Point of last 2 trades, to get better bottom 6 players.
