One big change

Created by: justaBoss
Team: 2020-21 Dallas Stars
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 14, 2020
Published: Aug. 14, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I don't really trust Bishop to be our 1G anymore. The guy is good bit too fickle, letting in too many soft goals. Age is also catching up to him, and he has declined from what he was last season.

Now that being said, he could likely be a terrific 2G for this team. Let's sign Lehner as our main goalie to bring us some good and go from there.

Knowing Nill, he's not going to do a single trade in the next window because to be fair he never does anything lol.

Nah. Ideally DAL would convince him to waive his NMC so that Seattle could take him.

Nill doesn't do anything? He traded for Seguin, Spezza, Sharp, Johns, Janmark, Bishop, Zuc. His FA signing havn't really panned out, but its not like he would have known that. He's signing players most teams were going after. Not his fault players aren't producing, nor the coaching sucks. He tried to hire Gallant instead of Hithcock, but owner said no.

I used to defend Nill. You’re absolutely correct, the owner has had his fingers where they don’t belong. But it’s very obvious that Nill is a yes man, so eventually the blame has to fall on him. I don’t see TG hiring anybody that isn’t a yes man so even if Nill is fired, the next guy will be just as ineffective

“His free agent signings haven’t really panned out, but it’s not like he would have known that” LMAO. I’m not a brilliant hockey mind at all but I saw Pavelski not being effective with this team a mile away. Nill needed a big name signing to save his job as designated yes man. That’s all that was

I 100% agree Bish isn’t a 1G any more, which is why I’ve been pushing the Reimer swap lately (Carolina gets a perceived goalie upgrade and we get future cap flexibility). But adding Lehner and leaving the rest of the team alone is a mistake imho. I’d feel good about Reimer and Dobby moving forward with Oetter hopefully in the near future

I’m talking about who knew Alexa would fall off the edge, Hanzal would get hurt and never really play. I think it’s a new coach. Give him that chance and see what happens. If a new coach fails, then I’m fine with a new GM. Our farm system isn’t very good. So we better win within the next couple of years. Get a coach that’s a win now, as well as develops, guy. If we don’t win in a couple of years, get a development coach, trade off guys and rebuild. But I’d give him a chance at a new coach.

He just hired Monty and we know how that went. Our farm system sucks cause we don’t draft well. Oh hey... know who’s in charge of that? The GM

Our farm system sucks because we traded everyone away for Seguin, Spezza, and other top players. Then we had no prospects. He's done okay in drafting. Val was good, under a good coach. We're just now starting to see the benefits in Hintz, Guri, Miro and others. We just emptied all our prospects for trades. And the trades aren't working out.

In hindsight the Seguin and Spezza trades were absolute wins for Dallas. Nill did a good job then, but it was 5 years ago.

After this, I don't think he has really done that well. And it doesn't help if the owner makes his job harder.
