I think you have a great point... however, this playoff has exposed how valuable Murph is and the holes in the leafs d.

There is really no “next in line” in Chicago behind Crawford. Scott was a high pick and has upside, liljenren does as well. In other words I think it could be very desirable for Chicago to to do this before Seattle swipes Murph for nothing.

We will protect Kieth, Seabrook, Murphy. Boqvist will be exempt. Seattle won't be getting Murphy. Seattle will take one of dehaan, Kampf, or Delia from the hawks. We don't really have issues protecting out good players

I don't think we should trade him at all. Most leafs fans will suggest Kapanen but I don't like that deal for the hawks. I wouldn't mind Murphy as a part of a bigger deal for Nylander or Marner but then we're starting to get pretty unrealistic
