This is like my pitch from last week except it doesn't fix Tor's cap problem at all. I'm biased against any Nylander deal because it doesn't solve any issues

@reelkena of course I think its not the saving grace of the Leafs issues, but its a short term solution. But, how does this still not help the leafs in anyway? Btw I forgot to add retention on Manson.

Agreed but it would be a start. Add someone like Kap and get a decent pic or prospect back

Without retention it was 3 million of about a 10 million need and it removed the option of trading more skill forwards. They still have to replace Willy with this deal also.

My trade from last week was Marner and Johnsson for Rakell, Manson and Comtois.

Johnsson is replaceable with a depth player and Rakell swaps for Marner. Tor gets the D man while also saving 4 million. The extra million and the Rakell contract allows for more leeway with the forwards.

Also I think my deal is more enticing for Anaheim as Marner and keeping their 1st are big gains for them.

@reelkena I agree Marner would be great but wo retention we are gonna pass. He won't be 90pt players on the ducks. Not to mention, one trade will never fix a teams issues especially with ANA and TOR.

@Rhea Kap is great but we can't afford to give away the appropriate prospects and picks to get his services. If this trade were to occur.

We disagree on Marner. Obviously. I don't think the money is a problem in Anaheim either.

@reelkena money is gonna be a problem everywhere with the flat cap and paying over 10 million for a winger is always tough. But, yes Anaheim has a good cap situation all things considered.

But, you disagree on Marner scoring over 90 pts in Anaheim or having Toronto retain?

80+ points is achievable consistently. hitting 90 is semantics, he'll be a stud.

Obviously Toronto is never retaining a penny. No conversation even continues after that word is mentioned to Dubas.
