Calgary says hard no, they aren’t giving a 1st to retain half of Lucic’s contract. Everyone else probably says no too, why do you think everyone’s going to retain on good players just cuz it makes your life easier?

Shesterkin is probably the best goalie prospect in the entire league, he is expansion exempt and has fantastic numbers. That trade isn't even in the ballpark for him

As a fan of none of these teams, I see Vasilevskiy, Hart, Shesterkin, and Samsonov as the future top goalies in the league. Perhaps he doesn’t win multiple because it’s a difficult trophy to win, but 2-3 years down the line he’ll start being in that conversation consistently for a while imo. He’s been great in every league he’s ever played in, the pedigree is there.

I'd say Pietrangelo at $9M is more unrealistic than the Calgary trade. Flames need a solid goalie and to get out of some of the Lucic deal
