From a Leaf standpoint....
Goaltending gets younger, defense improves, and forwards grittier and more physical and shed salary
For Pittsburg...
Adds scoring depth and speed....and improves defense and sheds bad contract...
And for Edmonton,
Upgrades goaltending, adds bad contract and adds secondary scoring....

Pretty even and kinda works for all three teams....

as a penguins fan I like this deal. not a HUGE fan of Russell but ANYONE Is better than Johnson!!

Would be nice if they could add another blueliner in the free agency without breaking the bank but cap is just tight. But sometimes its addition by subtraction, with Johnson gone the defense may just improve. If there are just takers for Bjugstad and his salary the Pens should really be all ears on this.
