Value of Evgeny Kuznetsov

Created by: TheFlamingC
Team: 2019-20 Calgary Flames
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 21, 2020
Published: Aug. 21, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Braces for incoming assault. I know the cost would be massive. I don't care. Whatever the price (except Tkachuk). Nothing is off the table except for Tkachuk. If that doesn't work than so be it but Tkachuk will not traded. The RW column is players that I would trade in a millisecond. Center is it would hurt but it's possible. The left wing column doesn't exist. If you see it then your eyes deceive you. Tkachuk isn't real

As a leafs fan, who would you want for Sam Bennett? Just want an opinion based on value.

Washington has zero reason to trade Kuznetsov. It would have to be a massive overpay like Monahan+Dube+Valimaki+1st rounder or something ridiculous like that.

They are still in a window of trying to compete for the cup and transitioning from Holtby to Samsonov next year is going to open a lot of cap space for them.

It’s all on direction of Washington, I’m sure it’s a slight retool til ovechkin retires, so not sure if there’s an offer that makes sense for both teams

3rd most post season points last 3 years. Seems exactly like the guy you would want. Top 30 in ppg last 3 years. Idk how that’s overrated but I’m sure you have your reasons. TR system might be the issue with Kuzy defensive game bc it was really solid under Trotz. Who knows we’ll find out next year

Similar to another capital, Carlson, he is overrated because his offensive production which overshadows his defensive deficiencies.

Does that make him overrated? Both are known as high end offensive players who have average defensive numbers. Overrated is subjective and hemust be held to a really high standard by you to think he’s actually overrated. Which means he’s not overrated smile you just judge him too harshly on your personal high expectations BUT you have high expectations bc you know he’s elite

That's some weird logic. No, I"m saying people perceive him as elite when he's actually not and his defensive numbers aren't "average".

Also, Kuznetsov in particular is perceived as a better offensive player than he actually is. Hell, from a pure production standpoint, he's only been a point per game player once in his career.

AS an opinion based on actual hockey value. Alex Kerfoot is a reasonable comparison based on his numbers. I didn't pay a lot of attention to him this year so I can't say for the eye test. He's around a 33 or 34 point scorer which is more than Bennett but doesn't bring the same grit. Judging by his PIMs he doesn't look soft though. Those could just be dumb penalties however. I think that to actually acquire him it would take Hyman straight up. I know he is better but it would take an overpay in a trade to acquire him. I think that if you are going to get Bennett your best bet is as including him as a piece in blockbuster deal. That's the only way I see a reasonable (not overpayment) trade for him getting accepted. I'd prefer to add picks instead of him but I think that if it was a good deal and there was no way out of getting rid of him then it could happen.

What about in a Gaudreau based deal

It's a 15 team NTC so I think Calgary might be able to squeeze in.

That would be a horrible trade or Toronto. Kerfoot is a significantly better player.

Thats worse as it hurts their center depth and they're already deep on the wings. Probably the same thing. Gaudreau+Valamaki+First+ center prospect

Washington just has zero reason to trade Kuznetsov so you would really have to blow their socks off.

Alright. That's what I expected. I saw some guy trade Gaudreau for Kuznetsov straight up in a Washington ACGM so I thought I'd give it a go

@Capitalfail67

I have now seen three separate ACGMs with a straight up Kuznetsov for Gaudreau trade where in one, the Capitals added a 2nd round pick. Obviously Washington would need to get a Cirelli on an offer sheet or something like that to fill a centre role but I'm assuming you guys are Caps fans so what do you think about a deal like that.

Capitals dont need JG. imo he would only hurt us bc we would need to push Vrana to the 3rd line. Vrana, if used properly, should be a 60-70 point forward. if we trade Kuzy its for a massive D upgrade or for a hgh 1st round draft pick. example Kuzy to Buffalo for 8oa and Montour. JG is a fantastic player but not a big enough upgrade over Vrana for me to send Kuzy away and add.

Alright. That makes sense. I thought it'd be fun though so I made an ACGM with a Gaudreau Kuzy trade anywaysmile
