Glad you said this wasn't serious because outside of the Nylander/Andersen deals you need to take out the higher pick in every other trade to approach fair value. Also with the C depth in this UFA (read: none) Eakin's going to be overpaid tbh.

I love this immensely as a leafs fan. Change the Kapanen return to a second, kerfoot to just a 3rd, take the 1st away from the nylander deal and its really good. We restock the cupboards for the long term and get two stars. I dig.

Skip signing Eakin and change the Dallas trade to Dickinson and a second round pick for Kapanen. I really like Kapanen, but if we’re giving up a first round pick I’d like somebody with a higher offensive ceiling

Everyone with a brain knows GMJR overpaid by a lot for Kapanen. There's a reason nobody else was willing to even give up a mid-1st for him. Dubas found a sucker, and good for him (kinda mean to bully an old man like that though lol), but that doesn't mean it was fair value, he managed to get far more than that. You can't expect that every time

Yeah. I completely agree. I have no idea what Rutherford was or is thinking. Still, I think we all (including me) should say Hats Off! to the OP. It's not often someone comes pretty close to an actual trade.
