There is a reason Russell isn't signed. 3.9m seems awful steep to me.

Kris Russell is a 5-6 defenseman at best. Spends WAY too much time in his own zone defending, the last thing we need. Almost $4 mill. is way too much for a bottom pairing defender who's a huge possession drag.

Especially since we're already over budget, if we're going to make any signing at all, it'll have to be under $1 mill.

Yeah seriously, people don't realize that him not signing is not because of money. Its because of term. He wants LONGER then he deserves, the money aspect isn't the problem. Go look at other players making similar salaries at a similar age. All between 2.5-3.5. He's worth around that. He's not worth more then 1-2 years max.
