I honestly think is pretty fair trade the way it sits i mean they are getting a defensemen which they need along with mittelstadt who could find his game with the flames, not to mention they are probably getting a very good prospect in this years draft.

Flames don’t really need defensemen though, they have 1 RD signed and 4 UFAs that have played on the right side so they will probably just resign a couple of them, and they have 3 signed LD and an RFA so. And Mittelstadt doesn’t have as much value anymore now that Buffalo stunted his development. The pick is nice but the Flames need more value for a top line centre who consistently puts up 30 goals

Sure but him putting up 48 points doesnt help his value at all

He had an off year in a shortened season, and the Flames aren’t sellers lol, it’s going to take a serious offer for them to consider moving him. Just because he isn’t untouchable anymore doesn’t mean they’re obligated to trade him for a bad return, if he gets moved it’ll most likely be in a deal to help them improve now, or shakeup the top 6 a bit while collecting some futures, which is why they’d maybe accept Reinhart+Mittelstadt+1st

I honestly don't think the Flames trade is that far off IF the Flames were to move Monahan.
At a glance it looks lopsided, but the value is close to what he'd be worth.
