Exploring 2020-21 for VAN

Created by: Brunobell
Team: 2020-21 Vancouver Canucks
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 24, 2020
Published: Aug. 24, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Sign Markstrom for 3y x 6M. Sign Toffoli for 7x7. VAN needs to dump one of those big salaries (Eriksson or Sutter) pay the price to dump the player to someone on their mNTC list. Tanev walks to UFA, as much as it pains them. Re-sign Stetcher and Gaudette to modest raises, short term deals.

OOOOOF Sutter doesn't have anywhere near that much negative value he's still a very decent 4th liner, he's just overpaid by quite a bit. Getting rid of him (if they want to) will cost a 3rd IMO

Probably a 2nd with the flat cap I'd say

My thought is that he has a mNTC and likely will not have a team with a large amount of cap on his "ok" list. In order to move the salary, in a flat cap, the 1st might have to do it. But, if it's a 2nd, fine. Point is they have to dump him.

Detroit could also be a 3rd team in this scenario, retaining 50% to make him more affordable to another. Even if this deal was to buy him out I’d do this deal 10-10 times.

But when that team already has 5 4th liners at least 3 that are basically un-moveable, the price goes. Are you saying NYR will take Sutter for a 3rd?

Sutter plus a 3rd for a 7th? Yeah why not if we have enough $ for him
