That's why it says template. It's a starting point

I don’t think Philly would consider a deal that has Couturier leaving

Calgary has to add a huge amount. Couturier and Konecny are the two best players in the trade

Gaudreau is better than Konecny. I'd rather have Konecny on my team but Gaudreau is more skilled. It's like a Toews-Kane scenario. Kane is more skilled but Chicago would take Toews to keep if given the choice.

Gaudreau is still better than Konecny. Ask me again in 2 years though and I may agree with you.

RE: What needs to get added

CGY needs to add to this deal for at least three reasons:

1) Konecny has the most term in the deal
2) Konecny is the youngest player in the deal
3) Couturier has the cheapest contract in the deal, but is the better C by a decent margin

Based on the above, I think CGY would have to add a 2020 1st (#19) + Pelletier (#26 in 2019 draft) to get close to a deal. Even then, I could see PHI saying, "this deal doesn't work for us right now".

Conclusion: Even with CGY paying the premium above the 2-for-2 player swap, I don't think PHI would do this deal this summer because it would be a massive shakeup to their locker room, which is working pretty well lately.

Lol. Nah dude.

Couturier >(barely) Johnny >> Monny > Konecny

1 season does not make Konecny a better player than these 2?

Where has his production been in the playoffs?

Philadelphia doesn't have the ~3 mil in extra cap space needed for the trade. Calgary would have to retain 2-3 mil...

Couturier is by far the best player in the trade, the rest a close 2nd and arguments could be made for all. Gaudreau a few years ago is the best player in this group but hasn't he taken a step back? I think the most valuable piece Calgary has to offer Philly is Lindholm or Giordano. Lindholm is arguably the Flames best forward and Gio would bring amazing veteran presence to the Flyers young blueline.

The Flames could throw Giordano into this deal

No He hasn't taken a step back - 1 down year does not equate to a step back. You are right that Lindholm probably has the most value.
