Massive overpay for Domi in cash and what you gave them why not just get like hoffman instead? JP will not sign with the OIlers.

McNiven is part of the deal which needs to be accounted for. He could be a decent backup. If it’s just Domi then yeah Nurse straight up seems fair given Montreal’s LD need. Honestly I think it’s quite fair, Oilers gain a bunch of cap space going forward to extend RNH & Yamamoto which is important

i think habs come out of that with the better haul, that being said cap space is something the oilers desperately need. For domi's contract i think you wanna be close to 5 mil per and 4 -5 years. If he lines up with Mcdavid he will have 70 plus points each year just by being on the ice with a pulse but he has shown he can disappear for long stretches i think at 6.5 theres a chance you regret that cap hit in a year or two. I dont think habs necessarily want a dman back as the main piece in a domi deal unless they are looking at additional moves to bring in a scoring winger with some size, yes they need help on LD but they will be adding romanov there next season and they have several promising d prospects on both sides.

When you say he disappears do you mean just offensively ? Or does he float with defensive commitment? My perception of Domi is a gritty top 6 scorer

You're right it's probably easier to simplify this deal and make it 1 for 1
