Description
Hard to say what donny could be after watching this year, really inconsistent it seemed. Was given a big opportunity on colorado and didn't really shine much bright than any of his other seasons. I haven't missed him much since he went down in playoffs and we have a lot of young players in the pipe line who can move up and start filling roles.
Jost can't seem to stay up in the lineup here, he will show his skills one game then be invisible the next game. I don't think moving him really hurts us as Bowers can replace him from within the system. Puljujarvi is a risk for sure but i think we could reap the reward majorally if it works out. He's a big body, a right shot and hopefully with a new team and rants to guide him we can get him back on track to being a 4th overall pick.
Then on the back end i don't see much changing, depending on how Byram has developed and what he looks like at camp i see cole sliding into the 7th d man spot, similar to barbs this year. We might sign one more depth player there to have insurance since EJ seems to struggle staying healthy but i don't see much change to the actual starters there.

Trades
1.
COL
  1. Rowney, Carter
  2. 2021 3rd round pick (ANA)
  3. 2021 5th round pick (ANA)
Additional Details:
Really just chose the first team here, essentially we are moving him for a depth player and an expiring contract to anyone who will take him.
ANA
  1. Donskoi, Joonas
Additional Details:
Donny has been up and down all season, i think the main thing is we are going to need his salary space more than him soon in the future. This is essentially another sodes trade where we just get a depth player who will be sent down but can play if injuries occur. Kaut can move up and take his spot in the line up and make the same effect he had.
2.
COL
  1. Puljujärvi, Jesse [Reserve List]
EDM
  1. Jost, Tyson
Additional Details:
Jost has had quite a few opportunities and as soon as he shows some flair he disappears just as quick. I think Bowers can replace Jost if this deal doesn't pan out but perhaps with a new team we can make pool party into an NHL player like we did Nichushkin

Donskoi isnt nearly as bad as you make him seem.
He was statistically on pace for his best offensive season and his 9 playoff games and 6pts isnt bad either.
No thanks on Pulju, id rather keep the asset we know (Jost) than trade for the unknown variable of Pulju.

I think you are being way too critical of Donskoi, hes been good. He is as advertised, a middle 6 winger.

I hate that Jost trade, he is a legit NHLer that makes positive impacts on the Avs...JP is a lottery card you have no idea what you are going to get out of him and if his issues was processing the game at the NHL level, as some edmonton fans mentioned....thats a bad trade for the avs bc he wont fit in that group

Nieto is not coming back IMO

I'd prefer trading Donskoi for just a pick tbh, but the trade is good.
The only things I don't like are the Zadorov/Graves signings. I think Graves is worth more and Zadorov less. We have too many D as it is and Zadorov needs to make room for Byram/Timmins.

No i agree, i am probily making him seem much worse than he is but i also think he isn't going to get any better. Even him hitting his career high playing 2nd line and when there were injuries he saw some first line minutes only sets him around 45 points, maybe 50 if he gets a point every game out on the season. I think we might be able to get a better value than a 3rd for him but i think his contract will need to be used for someone who can put up more points on the 2nd line as we have plenty of players who can move into a two way forward position for cheaper on 3rd line. Odds are he is a prime candidate for expansion as well, so i think selling high on him right now would be the best option for us

Rowney and some low draft picks are not selling high on him.
Look at what Kapanen brought in a trade, Donskoi had more production and has just as long of a contract where term is king right now especially whne their aav is only 700k difference.

You are really under valuing donskoi

The only time COL would need to move Donskoi is if they land a TRUE #2RW behind Mikko and Nichushkin slots in as #3RW - only then does Donskoi become the odd man out

I just touched o the donny thing in an earlier comment so won't repeat it again, but I think nieto will get re upped because of the fact hes accepted his role with the team. He knows he's never getting big minutes therefore he's cost controlled, he knows he's playing 4th line with some penalty kill time. I don't see us bringing up any prospects to play 4th line minutes over 1st line ahl minutes it doesn't make much sense for them that way. O connor i think will make the team based on how he's playing right now and him and nieto will be the guys who swap in and out of that 13th forward position, untill belly take a decline from age.
Jost i just don't know where he fits in to the line up. He's a serviceable player and can fit anywhere in the top 9 but you can always find someone better for the spot he's in. He can't seem to find a spot on the team where he really stands out. I also think that he could be a prime candidate for the expansion draft as i don't see us protecting him anymore over our current group of forwards, especially if we make a free agent signing.

Donny didn't out score kapanen this year and never has.
Sure we could get more for him, this is just hypothetical. If he can somehow bring back a first then you do that hands down. The trade pretty much makes room for Kaut to play bigger minutes and makes space for a scoring 2nd line rw to come in

I think zads has to be pretty much tendered that amount since he's an RFA and he's making 3.2 this year. I am not exactly sure what the numbers are but i think it's close to that. Also zads seems to pick his play up in playoffs, he's been solid for us so far, but i do think we have too many people back there and with graves coming up he is a little more expandable. I think cole is the major odd man out, he hasn't looked very good to me this post season, besides the odd blocked shot he just turns the puck over and can't make an outlet pass to save his life lately.
I wasn't really sure what graves number will be, i think he might be a little cost controlled since he has really only had the one good seaosn, i think he will be on a 'show me' deal to see if he can continue his play or if it was kind of a flash in the pan.
