Unfortunately, we do not need quality depth defenders, we have many of those. What we need is a top pairing dman

He’s our best defensive prospect. IMO I would rather give up Siegenthaler bc Alexeyev ceiling is much much higher. Issue is he needs another year before he’s NHL ready. Kids easily top 4 potential possibly top pairing but that’s best case scenario/everything goes perfectly

yea just know montreal is looking for a LD and has a ton of picks in this draft. Also trying to shed kempny's salary to make other moves

I agree. Seigenthaler and Fehervary are NHL ready next year while Alexeyev probably needs another year in the AHL, but the Caps' management sees him as a potential top 4 D. He had a really good year in Hershey.

Is he worth more or less? Everything ive heard about him is he's a good 2nd pairing guy who can play big minutes, which is what the caps need

He's worth much more than what you've offered. It's not close.

What would it take for you to give him up? Obviously biased as a caps fan but I see Alexeyev as slightly more valuable than a first round pick

Not to Edmonton he isn't. They have lots of LHD, Alexeyev would be buried on their depth chart.

I think Edmonton's ask would start with Vrana.

Unfortunately only three players on edmonton i would give up vrana for and they're all forwards!

The ask would start with Vrana and then Washington adds. You aren't getting Nurse for a 4th liner and an ok LHD prospect.

lmfao Vrana is the asking price for Nurse? woof hot take. Nurse has very very average offensive numbers for a defender that has terrible defensive numbers.... you can have bad defensive numbers if you have great offensive number but thats not the case here. Nurse is a UFA in 2 years and there are way better players available... here's my hot take Nurse is Ristolainen good. smile

the more i looked into them both... Nurse puts up good offensive numbers but plays bad defense.... imagine a Carlson but he scores 40 less points. imo Shattenkirk or Barrie would be the same price and would be more effective for the capitals. Nurse gets glorified bc hes a average defender on a terrible defense.

Nurse and ristolainen are very comparable imo

Nurse was 5th in the league in controlled entries last year, 5th in controlled entries with scoring chance afterwards and 5th in controlled zones exits. Over the past 3 years he is 7th in 5v5 points amongst defensemen, tied with Victor Hedman. Over the past 2 years Nurse is 1st in the league in 5v5 TOI, 2nd if you look back 3 years.

Vrana has disappeared in the playoffs consistently at every level throughout his career, but especially at the NHL level. Past 2 playoffs: 15, 0-0-0 (-8). Yikes. I like him but I can't justify trading a 23+ minute, 40-point defenseman for a 14 minute, 50 point winger 1-for-1.

Nurse scored 40 points 1 time and like i said his defensive numbers are terrible and his offensive numbers are good. him and Risto have identical Offensive numbers. lmfao Nurse 4 playoffs games -2 2 points..... yeah my god this dude is amazing.

Vrana 52 points in 69 games.... yeah Nurse doesnt get you Vrana... its a laughable offer. RFA top 6 winger on a cheap contract.... 2nd pairing dman with awful defensive numbers and good offensive numbers... not elite or great good.... ristolainen type offensive numbers lmfao yeah zone entry and exits are cool.
