Taylor Hall

Created by: hines10
Team: 2020-21 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 2, 2020
Published: Sep. 2, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Forwards:
Start with Hall. In a year that contracts could be down, Hall has stated he prefers stability and winning which means Boston could be the perfect place. Before he was drafted Hall made it no secret he wished Boston would draft him and idolizes Bobby Orr. If he's serious about winning and would take slightly less to play in Boston it would be an ideal fit. DeBrusk signs a short RFA deal, which Boston tends to do, and slides over to Krejci's right side along with Hall. Kase bumps down next to Coyle where he should get plenty of scoring opportunities. Studnicka needs to be in the bottom six in some manner all year. Ritchie is dumped.

Defenseman:
Chara retires. Krug who has constantly stated family is no. 1 priority goes home to Detroit on 7yr/$58m deal. Grzelcyk resigns on a short RFA deal for slightly less than Carlo signed last year ($2.85m cap hit). To replace the lefties Krug and Chara, Gustafsson and Dillion are brought in. If Chara runs it back one more year, sign just Gustafsson. Both players have better 5v5 rates than Krug the past two seasons and are not as sheltered as he is which should hopefully help the Bruins even strength play:

GF/60: Krug 2.61, Gustafsson 3.03, Dillon 2.74

Gustafsson slots in next to Carlo as he takes a majority of his face-offs in the offensive zone (58 percent), similar to Krug (68.2 percent) but not as high. Grzelcyk takes Krug's place as PP1 QB and Chara's spot next to McAvoy, which is a dominant pairing. Moore and a pick is traded for salary relief.

Goalies:
If Tuukka decides to return he should be this teams goalie. He has one year left on his deal which gives you one more reason to go all in one more time with this core. Halak moves back to his backup role which has been extremely successful.

Good deals for the RFAs, except Grzelcyk. Add $1M at least.
DeBrusk on the RW doesn't work; neither Studnicka on 4th line and at LW.

As a Habs fan I would hate for this to happen.

Realistically though I don't see Hall getting much less than $8M AAV and 7 year term no matter where he goes. It could be done pretty easily if Krejci or Task left through retirement or trade.

So debrusk blows on the right keep him on the left and move him down to coyle line with stud on the right. No way Detroit gives krug 58 million dollars. I dont care how much cap they have. I cant stand hall id rather sign Hoffman but its a good contract if hed sign it. With the cap being a question you may see guys go to places where they get the best contract they can.

They won't pay Grzelcyk more than they did Carlo imo. DeBrusk would be fine at RW. Could bounce Stud to center and Kuraly out to LW

They need. Grzelcyk is better all-around. Unless he takes a discount.

DeBrusk on the RW hasn't worked well in the past. He's already been inconsistent on the LW so just keep him at his natural position and forget about Hall. Studnicka can't play on the 4th; top9 or Providence.

Lol that does not get you Hall. Does not get Grizz and Debrusk. And Gustafson is a terrible signing.

Lol. Carlo had no leverage. Grizz does. Debrusk has stunk at RW whenever they put him there.

Like Dillon but not Gustaffson. Studnicka is in the Bs lineup. Lindholm was on the ice for a bunch of Tampa goals and is redundant with Frederic plus Kuhlman ready to roll.
