Minnesota does not want Johnson. You'll need to take that 3rd out and add a pick (5th round, maybe?) yourself to make it a fair trade.

Good luck getting that much value from a player getting actively shipped and a cap dump

Allen went for a 3rd.
Allen's numbers > Murray
Murray will not be getting anything remotely close to that, at this point Pittsburgh would be lucky to just get rid of him.

I personally think you could get a much better return out of Malkin than this

Matt Murray career: 0.914%
Jake Allen career: 0.913%

15-16 Murray was better
16-17 Murray was better
17-18 Murray was better
18-19 Murray was better
19-20 Allen was better

Allen's numbers are not better. Unless you only evaluate your trades on a single season

Allen is also a backup making over 4 million, which is basically a cap dump. So if that nets a 3rd, then Murray at least nets a 1st.

I think its time to shop Malkin, I actually have for a while. Im told Fla is one place he would go. Yes you might be able to get a better return but this return isnt bad.

LOL .913 vs .914 CAREER
Murray is making 3.75M and is a UFA which means he'll want over 4 for this next contract.... using math is not in your favor here.
And you're saying its AT LEAST a 1st?

There are better goalies going UFA (Lehner for example),
Nobody is giving a 1st for Murray you're dreaming, especially knowing how desperate Pit is to move him and how bad of a season he had... good lord give your head a shake.

Murray is an RFA, not UFA. Pitt isn’t desperate to move him either. Would they like to? Sure, but they ain’t desperate or he’d be gone by now

Sorry I meant RFA which is why his contract will be high.
Sure seem desperate, just about every Pen fan on here has him on the move.
Media blowing up the airways at his availability and rumors Rutherford wants him gone.

I'd bet my left nut he's traded and it wont be for a 1st smile

RFA means the club has the upper hand, not the player. I can see him getting 3-5 year deal for around 5-6 million per. Which for a starting goalie is better than 4+ for a backup 🤷‍♂️. And literally every team has said they are listening to every offer on every player. If GMJR was desperate and wanted Murray gone, he’d have traded him for whatever he could get. And both of our goalies are on the trade block and he is going to take the best offer. Murrays goalie coach also just got an extension so make of that what you will 🤷‍♂️. He might not get a 1st for Murray but that would be his value. He will likely get a solid player that can help them now for Murray. My guess would be 3C or RD.

oh no... he was our best player this year and by far.... and in this return you don't get any star/superstar just some good players. that first round is useless rn you have to go all in who cares about the future we have to contend till the last days of sid and geno giving them the best chances to win as much as they can. after we are going to be awful for a couple of years but if in the meanwhile if we manage to win another cup sid and geno become one of the best duo to ever do it winning 4 cups in the modern era with the cap etc

i disagree but we will have to agree to disagree. They have not been successful with current model for a few years. I thinking trading him or Letang would allow you to retool on the fly.
