I mean considering what WPG needs, they'd probably be in for deal involving Laine+something for Monahan+Andersson. Their biggest needs are a 2C and TOP4 RD after all.

Likely that something would have to be of some significance, of course...I'm not that certain about CGY's needs though.

Monahan to PIT? Don't they already two of teh best 1C/2C centers in teh game? I can't see Monahan playing 3C... or wing, for that matter.

I can very easily see Monahan on the wing and that was my thought with this deal. Elite finisher from the hashmarks in. Get's caved at 5 on 5 up the middle.

Schifele is a 80-90 point player ,monahan is a 70-80, I know points aren’t everything but monahan is a good center and Andersson is miles better than pionk I’d say the difference between pionk and Andersson is more than schifele and monahan

No. Scheifele makes WAY more of an impact on the game. Monahan has gotten carried by Johnny Gaudreau for years. I will agree that Anderson is quite better then Pionk.

I'm obviously a Flames fan, but Monahan and Scheifele are not that close. Monahan has good boxcars but is not a top 31 NHL center as far as carrying play. He is a 2 on a good team, and quite honestly might be better suited on the wing with a puck distributing center.

I will say Andersson and Pionk also are not that close, and that margin is expected to widen not narrow.

Pens need Monahan less than any team in the league, top 6 centers and LW spots are all locked up. They need Marino way more, so it just doesn't make sense
