Well I don't know alot about Protus, but unless the Wild scouting dept lives him I don't see it.

Brodin is a solid player, but we’ve invested high draft picks in four LHD over the years (Sieg, Alexeyev, Johansen, and Fehervary); if this team is going to contend then at least of those guys is going to have to be able to play big minutes starting next season. Meanwhile on the right side we’ve got Carlson (a legit 1D), Jensen (a bottom pair Dman in my opinion)...and no one else unless you’re moving someone to their off side. I think we need to land a legit top 4 RHD in free agency.

I mean your right side is pretty set with Carlsson, Orlov, Jensen. Left side looks weak unless I'm messing up the handedness...

Orlov is LHD. He played some RHD in the playoffs last month

Gotcha. Would you be interested in DeAngelo?

I think the Caps will be looking for more of a stay-at-home guy for 2RD than a puck mover like DeAngelo. The goal is an Orlov-XXXX pairing that can go up against top lines so that Carlson's pairing is freed up to focus on generating offense. DeMelo, Vatenen, Larsson, and Cernak are the type of the guys I expect them to be interested in. Offer sheeting Cernak is my favorite option right now, since it'd potentially just cost a 2021 2nd if they offer him something like 5 years, 20M. Screwing over the best team in the East is a nice bonus.

For Brodin, I bet they would want McMichael or one of Fehrevary or Alexiyev.
