Description

The Montreal trade is to finally get McDavid some scoring wingers. It gives Montreal the left D to go with Weber for 25+ mins a game, along with a winger that has scored 30 goals in the league, a guy that is great in the room and can play front of the net on the power play, not to mention he’s French. Throw in a 3rd pairing right D.
The Detroit trade gives Detroit two veteran D that they need until their young players are ready, with no long term commitment, a rugged winger which they’ve not had for some time and a solid goalie until their next starter is ready. They give Edmonton back their draft picks and a backup/1B goalie.
Pietrangelo could make more elsewhere but wouldn’t be playing with the top two offensive players in the league.
As for the goalies they give you a solid tandem until one of the kids is ready.
