Who wins, and why?

I thought the big deal about Trouba was his offense, but last year Kempny got one more even strength point than Trouba. So maybe it's Trouba's defense, but last year Kempny's plus/minus was 33 better than Trouba's.

Trouba played tougher zone starts and more minutes on a team having a rough year. But is he worth three times Kempny's cap hit? Or is Kempny overperforming a moderately priced contract, and therefore more valuable in trade?

Nobody wins, Caps decline since they can’t really afford Trouba, and if they could the money is better spent elsewhere I would think.

But, say that trade went through, the Rangers win easily.

The Rangers are not going to trade him just yet and there is no way they would trade him to the Caps

Caps can'''t afford Trouba, And if Trouba wanted to play in Washington he'd gone there. He chose New York because his wife is going to be a future Dr there.
