MN shouldn't touch this. Cirelli is the only thing MN needs from this trade, the rest is just stuff.

How about we make it simple for you. Minn offer sheets for cirelli 6m for 5 years. Take that as a baseline to start negotiations. That’s what a 1st and a 3rd, which can be 2021 on both. I think it’s those picks. Bam simple value. If you sign him you’re screwed all the way around. But let’s start his valuation there and then add pieces. How much is a top pair offensive defensemen also a right hand shot worth? And this is how valuations should go. Step on toes with offer sheets but standard value established.

And then Cirelli laughs since he has no desire to leave Tampa for Minnesota. Tampa isn't going to trade him anyway, and the only way they'd even consider the trade for Dumba(who they don't really need anyway), is if they already had a good deal in place moving Cernak. If so, they'd consider Cirelli for Dumba and Donato both with the retention and maybe Tampa adds like a 3rd or a 4th. In any case, it's not happening realistically anyway.

Depends on what cirelli wants. If he wants a situation where he can be “the guy” and get paid accordingly he might. In Tampa he’ll always be behind stamkos and BP.

The sucky thing for Tampa is too many quality pieces and can’t pay everyone. They are in cap hell. I figured a better deal would be a 1st and jee for him. Ek being solid 2 way center who is a shut down guy and far cheaper.

Cirelli has already replaced Stamkos as the 2C and has a large role in Tampa. There has also been every indication he wants to stay and is willing to work with the team on the contract. It seems very unlikely he's just going for max dollars to leave a top contender for a fringe playoff team.

Tampa really isn't in cap hell, as they need basically one of Johnson, Gourde or Palat to waive the ntc. It's far from some unsolvable situation, and if it comes down to it a buy out is still an option. There are reasons that one of them might waive(especially Johnson, much reduced role in Tampa, bigger role elsewhere, can decide where he wants to go vs submitting 20 teams after next year etc.).

As far as trading Cirelli, if Tampa does intend to shop him, the Wild's 1st and EK is a good offer. I'm sure Tampa would consider it if they want to move him. It is definitely a better offer than most of the mediocre ones put on this site. I think Tampa might consider a small add from their side if the trade was deemed imbalanced, but pretty good deal. If Tampa had all the other cap numbers in line and he was needing to be traded, this could definitely be an option.

I think it will depend on if they win the cup. If they win the cup he might be looking for payday rather than his pursuit of winning.
