I’m interested in Derek Ryan. I know he’s getting older, but do you see any declining out of him or is he still a solid 2-way center?

Flames fans like Doc (Ryan), but the Flames have an over abundance of centres on the team and in the system. His defensive play and penalty killing is elite and why he was traded for, but Calgary needs a change and this is one way to free up funds for a top 6 winger. It also lets Elias Lindholm to finally move to his natural position at centre.

Ryan is still a solid performer and plays up and down the line-up. The reason he shows up in Calgary trades every now and then is that Flames fans want to move Bennett to #3 Center next year and Ryan becomes an expensive #4C. He is still a 3C in this league though. I like Ryan to Buffalo as well - works for both teams.

How has Miller been this year? I thought he was an offensive defenseman but his production has been declining over the last couple years and this year was especially bad. Has he turned into a defensive defenseman or something?

He is very steady and hasn’t declined much yet - I would believe he is more of a Salary dump than anything.

I think you'd have to add more to move Ryan and in turn acquire a solid 2nd or 3rd pair RHD. Ryan, Kylington, and a 4th for Miller and a 7th
