No, as much as I love Laine...MTL has been looking for a 1C and 2C for YEARSSSS!!! and they finally have that in Suzuki and KK. Also don't think bergy would trade one of them either, it fills a hole on the wings but creates a huge one at C so that's a no go.

Still think it would take another piece but the Habs shouldnt do it if it involves Suzuki or KK. They finally have young centers who actually look promising, see what they become before you trade them away.

sincerly, I think the Jets decline... even if Suzuki is shinning to be THE 1C... but didn't play a real full year there yet vs a REAL POWER F in Laine 40G+ scorer in this crazy NHL...
It is a NO from both side I think

The irony is that Suzuki would already be the Jets 2C if they hadn't given up their first round pick to Vegas in the expansion draft. #hindsight

I get it, MTL has finally found something that went missing for years, it's hard to throw it away. The thing is, MTL has too much top 6 centers now. Fans are not GMs, yet all trade proposals involving Domi or Danault posted on this site that were somewhat received positively by other fanbases would fetch an underwelming return (a late 1st, and/or a middle-aged, or underperforming or about to be UFA top4 LD or top6 RW).

Of course, trading Zuke hurts, but there's no way MTL will receive a quality piece if he's not part of a package. You've got to give to receive. Plus, the centerline would still be very potent with KK, Danault and Domi. It's not like it would be 2012 again.

Danault is one of the best 2 way C in the game and a selke caliber player (was 6th this year) him alone is worth a lot....they can very easily package him with picks and maybe a prospect to go get a quality piece and not trade away either of their 2 young C's.

Danault easily gets you a good return. He just came 6th in Selke votes by a wide margin and makes under 4 million next year. I know the trades your reffering to and frankly most people on this site dont realize what he is worth, they just see 13 goals and just 50 points and think they can get him for a crap package which isnt what Bergevin is going to trade him for.
