I mean, this isn't out of the realm of possibilities honestly. A second rounder instead of 3rd could make it really interesting. It would really depend on whether Canes believe in Bean's ability to be a top 4 D or not. If they project he's more a career 3rd pairing guy, they might do it. They've shown willingness to part way with prospects who they don't think are going to play above replacement level.

Personally, I think Bean is legit top 4 guy and is too valuable to trade (with potential to be high performer on entry deal).

Tatar just had his best year which means he can only get worse from here so any trade for him is probably a loss unless the cup is won so I'd rather just give up a conditional 2nd that says if Carolina makes it to ECF then MTL gets their 1st instead of Bean who is only 22yo and should be a top 4 D-man
