Feeding OTT

Description
So Im a sens fan, but I have seen close variations of all of these trades kicking around. NYI want to dump cap.

OTT wants picks and bad cap.

NYI get CBrown/Paul/Hawryluk RFA who can all play Islanders hockey.

I figure maybe you can convince the guys to waive their NTC/NMC if they all go together.

Boychuk and Ladd become anchors that OTT eat. Hickey and Komarov each at 2M become very easy contracts for OTT to retain 500k~1M and move easily

OTT can add a late pick (5th/6th/7th etc) to any of these trades. How many (if any) get done.

I can only see the isles dumping one bad contract. Leddy and maybe one of bailey/cizikas will have to go.

The cap dump will be either komarov or hickey

Leddy still has something to contribute, making him both an unfortunate player to lose (compared to Ladd/Boychuck), but less expensive to get rid of. I get it.

For sure - id rather trade Leddy for a mid-late rd pick than give up a 1st rd pick + to get rid of ladd when it’s likely he’ll be on LTIR in the next two years.

Not sure how Bailey's a bad contract right now. One of the postseason leaders in assists on a 5m cap hit is pretty damn good value. While Isles fans are trying hard to drop Leddy, that's not necessarily because he's "bad". It's more that Toews now does what he does, but better, and his presence on the roster is redundant. Isles are better off moving him to make space for RFA contracts.

I'd say the bad contracts are Komarov, Clutterbuck, Boychuk and Ladd. Those guys are either not playing anymore or their roles are replaceable by other cheaper UFAs.

I can understand why you thought I meant that. Should have articulated my point better. I wasn’t sayinf Leddy/bailey/cizikas are on bad contracts
