SJ would consider Killorn for 34th overall, but Ferraro is pretty much untouchable.

I thought about that, but San Jose will be tied to nearly $29M in cap for the next 4 years in Burns, Simek, Karlsson, and Vlasic. My guess is that GMJBB will convince them that Merkley is their young defender that they can pay and just go league minimum to fill out the rest, but you're probably right.

Merkley is a RD, while Ferraro is a LD, he likely will be playing in a 2nd pair role next year. Merkley will have 3 years on ELC, while Ferraro has another 2. Doesn't make any sense to trade Ferraro.

Calgary is also getting cap savings with going from Ryan to Paquette at 4C. They're also getting solid #6/7 D in Coburn. Plus, the two prospects aren't super special. It's a lot of small/medium pieces for Calgary in order to fortify themselves as Cup contenders.

Very true (And I probably am being overambitious )but the Lightning could turn that 3 and 4 into a 2 and 3 to help San Jose do that. Last year, the Lightning got a 1+ for JT Miller, a guy the Lightning HAD to trade. I don't think it's inconceivable that JBB gets something good for Killorn.

Yes but I'm not sure how getting rid of a promising young defender on an ELC is gonna help us with all of of those expensive contracts on the blue line.

Killorn to San Jose is a fit but if the ask is too high, we have plenty of other options.

Dube is easily a top 6 potential player, Mackey and MEP are also B to A- prospects. Mackey is on a similar level to Foote, Pettersen is projected as a solid middle 6 player. Both are coming over from College so you can't really compare them to the AHL but they were both major factors in their teams success this year.
Going from Ryan to Paquette is a downgrade and Coburn doesn't make the Flames starting line up over Valimaki or Kylington

Yeah, Ferraro is untouchable. He was one of the only positive suprises in that roster last year, homegrown and cheap contract.
Killorn would be good addition, although I think we are more in need of a 2nd line RW or solid 3rd line center right now.

Broken record here I know but in 3-4 years our top 4 D will be Ferraro and Merkely Karlsson and TBD but probably Burns. so sharks have to decline he’s just to valuable for us right now
