4th overall plus for Cirelli and Serg

Created by: TMLBRIAN
Team: 2020-21 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 13, 2020
Published: Sep. 13, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Lines 1 and 2 look good. Defence and Goaltending look good. Lines 3 and 4 are sketch ball. I am keeping that 3rd line as is. They need to prove that they still have mileage left in the tank.

I really like the idea of Cirelli and Serg for 4th overall +. For both teams. Tampa gets out of their cap hell, while getting the 4th overall and a few picks. Which can serve them very well down the road.
Detroit gets a young selke type of centreman and top 4 young left dman.

I think this is a win for both teams.

Detroit has their 2021 first round pick still. Capfriendly needs to re-add the 2020 picks to trade options. Not sure why they are gone!

All their other guys have NTC/NMC. I don't think they are happy about losing these guys. But this would be a pretty good outcome for Tampa.
May be easier to keep all their NTC/NMC guys who are all still very good and pick up the 4th overall, 2x 2nds and a 3rd. Those picks and players will be huge for the future of the team.

And Detroit turns the 4th overall and the other 3 lesser picks into 2 players you would be hoping to get if you were picking top 10 in a draft anyways. So they win from this also.

Also it surrounds Mantha, Bertuzzi, Larkin with other guys in their age group (a bit younger) to build with.

Too much, maybe. Way too much, no.

Cirelli just came 4th in Selke votes. He is easily worth a top 10 pick himself. Serg is a top 4 dman who is easily worth a top 10 pick right now also. So you get 2 young guys who are proven for the 4th overall, 2 x 2nds and a 3rd. This ensures that Detroit doesn't get a flop with their pick and they get 2 guys who can play with and use to build with. It surrounds Mantha, Bertuzzi, Larkin with other guys in their age group (a bit younger) to build with.

And if they do crap again this year, they have the 2021 1st round pick still. And then at years end a bunch of their old and crap ufas expire and they can take the team to the next level then. May be a good plan for Yzerman.

Both Cirelli and Sergachev are worth around #8. Both of them together is worth more than that package, especially when you factor in team needs. Why would Tampa want scratch tickets when they are the cup favorites every year? You act like players have never waived clauses before, I would bet if they win this year a couple people would be ok with waiving. Also Killorn can be moved without issue

4th overall is one damn good scratch ticket. The other 3 are mediocre scratch tickets. Without Cirelli tampa still has the best or one of the best top 9s in the league. On defence this frees them up to trade or sign someone on the right side. I understand that Tampa is in win now mode. And i think their team still competes without Cirelli and Serg, and they get the 4th overall to help them be good for years to come. I would still try to trade a few of the other guys they have but if that doesn't work, Cirelli + Serg for 4th overall + is a decent consolation prize.

Is cirelli a 2C. There is debate Larkin is a 1C. I would rather try to get that 1C in this draft with the 4th pick, Larkin move to 1B/ 2C (How ever you want to call it), and Veleno 3C. I don't see tampa moving serg. He is the real deal!

Cirelli just got 4th place in Selke voting. Point wise is a number 2. So super defensive number 2. He is young so he can still grow offensively.

Tampa might not have a choice as to who they keep.
