Doesn't work for Philly cap wise they save a little money with Ghost for Kelfbom but AA coming over as well at $3M is what kills their cap space even more

Klefbom for Ghost and a 2nd is an absolute steal for Philly. If you are that strapped, you just flip AA or let him walk. Not a chance the Oilers do it though.

Easy yes on the Coyotes deal, can't imagine they would do it though.

Really really dislike the Leafs trade. Johnsson is an upgrade offensively over Archibald, but Archibald is way better defensively and on the PK. Archibald is also a 1/3 of the price. I don't think their value is that far off. That leaves Larsson with retained for a pick. I don't like that deal as a whole for the Oilers.

Im fine with the Russell and Khaira dumps. but other teams fans never once agree to taking cap dumps. SO while the value is probably close, some fans can't accept the financial situation their teams are in.

Fleury deal is probably close, but the Oilers need to get a goalie who can grow with their team for several years. Fleury is a fix for one year and even then at his age, you never know what you are gonna get. I don't like the idea of giving up a young asset for a player whos likely not gonna be with you in 2 years from now.

Working from bottom to top:

VGK won’t retain half of Fleury’s salary since the 3.5M they would save isn’t much considering they would need a backup goalie. For $3.5M their best option is... Fleury.

Why are you trading our Best defenceman for Ghost??

Why are you trading our second best defenceman, a useful 4th line center and a 2nd for an older, only slightly more effective D-Man on a scary long contract.

Finally why degrade our RD by training Larsson and then retaining salary so that Toronto can also steal an excellent bottom 6 forward who’s a great PK player and can move up and down the lineup. Johnson is good but he’s certainly not worth 4.9M, which is effectively what you’d be paying him. That’s especially ludicrous, as I think his normal 3.4M would still be better spent elsewhere.

The salary dumps could go to any team, I just thought that Ottawa and Buffalo was the best choice.

We need to move Larsson and you have to add a prospect or player. If you could do larsson for a 2nd I would do that but we also need a left winger. I think we add a new dimension to the left side for mcdavid.

Coyote deal you may have to add something, not sure what. We need to move on from nurse, I like him but don’t think he is worth the money.

Ghost has potential he lost his way and might find it with a new team. I didn’t see us advancing to the next round so we need change. We can’t hold on or stay the same if we aren’t making progress

Vegas will be fine with 3.5 million savings and a potential top 6. If to give up a prospect for a goalie. He would sign the following year and at a good rate if lehner only signs for 5.5million per year.
His save percentage was .910 in the playoffs and he’s not done yet. If you can’t do this sign holt by but all other goalies will be above 4.5 million.

Well with all these deals I don’t think the team is better. The goaltending definitely is (though VGK still won’t ever do that) but the bottom six forwards are a joke and the bottom four defenceman are suspect at best.

Girgensons is currently listed as 4LW for a bad buffalo team and has little to show that he would be a decent 3C worth the money you’re paying him. I don’t know who Seth Jarvis is but if you’re planning on drafting him and plugging him next to McDavid that’s not going to go well. Also as much as I like Gagner he’s not an NHL player anymore, he’s just too slow.

Bouchard has not shown he can defend at the NHL level so expecting he’ll be able to do it could lead to trouble. Benning has played 2RD before and he fails miserably every single time. He’s a great 3RD but it seems he can’t take that next step. I hear Ghost has struggled a lot defensively lately and that he has been scratched at times. Again depending On him and Benning to pair together to defend against strong competition 20 minutes a night probably leads to a team that’s out of the playoffs by late January (if they start Dec. 1)

In the trade the Oilers sign AA to $3Mx3 so they couldn't just let him walk. I wasn't saying that it wasn't great value but the left side in Philly is currently pretty full with Provorov and Sanheim already there and York and Zamula quickly on their way. The right side is where they need help which is why it probably wouldn't work having a $4m+ player on your third pair for long term isn't a smart long term investment especially when the cap is going to be the same for the next few seasons.
