Description
Pelech is the key not Pulock. Make the trade... He will cover for Dobs as he grows into the top pair responsibility. Ehlers is the better fit than Laine for Isles. Swap Lee with Beau while Wahls or Otto takes over 3RW, I give the edge to Wahls but either works for me. Would like to bring back Martin too but no one will take Boychuck or Leo and we cant keep giving up futures to dump them.

Pelech has a great defensive impact but the narrative that pelech is our best defenseman isn’t true - pelech needs pulock more than pulock needs pelech. That being said if still do this trade because Dobson will be an elite #1.

I’d rather we not make any moves next year than lose Pulock. A Top 4 of Pelech-Pulock, Toews-Dobson is too good to pass up on. Besides, I really don’t think we need someone like Ehlers to take that next step. Trade for/sign another 2nd liner like Palmieri or Toffoli should they become available, and let Wahlstrom play 82 games. He’ll be a first liner by the TDL and we can decide If we need to add then.

the last thing we need is another mediocre second liner like Palmieri or Toffoli, we need a 60+ pt player or 30 goal scorer

Wahlstrom could grow into that guy, and I think Beauvillier will have his breakout year next year, especially if we keep the second line from the playoffs. Adding a guy like Palmieri would force either Lee or Eberle down to the third line where they could play against weaker matchups. A line of Eberle-Pageau-Wahlstrom would be one of the best third lines in the NHL. Sure, a 60 point 30 goal winger would be ideal, but we’re probably not going to be able to pay the price for them. We can’t keep losing futures when you have the aging core that we do. Nelson, Bailey, Eberle, Lee, Cizikas, etc are all approaching on the wrong side of 30.
