Signing Pietro At Expense Of Depth And Goaltending

Created by: AnalyticsGeek
Team: 2020-21 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 18, 2020
Published: Sep. 20, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I saw a post a few days ago saying Pietro wants a 50-60 Million dollar deal if he signs in Toronto. Not as much as originally predicted but would still be difficult to keep the big 4.

I don't hate it. Crawford had the best high danger sv% this year, I wouldn't mind him. I don't like Larsson as 3C though. There's 500k of wiggle room, maybe we could get someone a bit better there. Also I'd imagine Williams wouldn't sign to be a healthy scratch

Awfully top heavy. Any injuries to key players and the Leafs would be in huge trouble.

Though I don't hate it, it's really impractical . First silly to get rid of Holl, and it's only hoping that both Dermot and Fleury are both playing the right side.
But why does Carolina trade for one year of Anderson when they have two NHL goalies. Maybe Carolina can just Crawford on another UFA goalie instead of 5m Andersen and giving up assets.
Larsson and Engvall 3rd liners...that's a drop-off. Even depending on Simmons, and Rodriques in the top 12 is iffy. Junior aged Robertson an NHLer...wishful thinking.
I rather think all this Pietrangelo chasing is ridiculous

I like it! Though I can’t see Simmonds taking league min, so we could put Korshkov there

Name a team that would be okay if they lost key players. The answer is pretty much no one.

Also Matthews and Nylander didn't get hurt last season but all the other key players did and they still were on track to make the playoffs before the pandemic hit.

Matthews had his first year of not being injured. I think he is injury prone anyhow.
