Idea is solid. Lines are 💩

They sre not buying out Ritchie.

Lauko does not make the team unless it’s LW3 and while there is not much competition for it, it’s not happening.

It’s been going on since the 2015 draft. 🤷🏻‍♂️

This is tempting for Calgary... would be shocked if Hanifin got traded despite the opinions of all CF users, d-man who hasn't hit his prime and can be easily protected and is our #1 LD, but if he did this would get Calgary thinking.

Buying out Ritchie not only allows his full cap to come off but also gives them bonus cap space of $167,000 this year. If Lauko is the big issue here with this roster than I'm not concerned as that is a placeholder for whichever ELC makes the team out of camp to fill the 23 man roster.

Why not? A 6'3" cost-controlled LHD to pair with McAvoy isn't worth a Vaakanianen, Beecher, Zboril, Sensyshn or other prospect that will be NHL ready when Bergeron, Marchand, Krejci and Rask are all gone?

Value is ok for Calgary. I just dont see any need met. Moore has little value for Calgary. Debrusk is a good player but LW is not a position of need. If Calgary is to move Hanifin you would think one need would have to be met. 1st is nice but unless other moves are made by the Flames this seems pointless.

I firmly believe that this team is a Cup contender with Marchand and Bergeron on the second line moving forward. I also believe that the best possible linemate for the next 5+ years for the Rocket Richard winning Pastrnak is to have the Hart Trophy winning playmaker Hall feeding him the puck.

Hall - XXX - Pastrnak
Marchand - Bergeron - XXX

A centre that can get Hall the puck from the defensive zone or from the offensive corners who can then control the play to the net or find Pastrnak is more valuable than putting Hall with Krejci and Kase. No one is a sniper/shooter on that line. Bruins fail by loading up the first line and by putting them into pairs with Krejci having one year with Hall and Pastrnak makes the team a legit three-line threat.

After talking to Flames fans, the idea then frees up Gaudreau for a trade.

Yeah but it still doesn't meet a need we would still have Tkachuk, Mangiapane, Dube, Lucic down the left. I like debrusk but I just dont see a fit on the flames. We really need a RHS.

Fair. I think, and thought, the lines for Game 5 against the Lightning should have been
marchy bergy Studnicka
Debrusk Krecji Kase
Bjork coyle pasta

Putting Coyle, someone who is a puck possession machine, a bid body, and decent passer with Pasta would be an unstoppable combo.

I was criticized for the same school of thought earlier on HF:

Hall - Coyle - Pastrnak
Marchand - Bergeron - Studnicka
DeBrusk- Krejci - Kase

I envisioned Coyle attacking the D in the offensive zone and getting the puck to Hall then driving to the net. Hall then has the shot or pass to Pasta. Five year plan. Meanwhile, Marchand and Bergeron develop Studnicka, and Krejci gets prime matchups with Debrusk and Kase in his final year of his contract. Hopefully the following year Studnicka is pushing Coyle back to 3rd line and taking over with Hall and Pastrnak. If not, he gets Debrusk and Kase.

I was pushing for the 23 year old Boston native who is locked in for the next four years and Sweeney had pursued before aggressively. Who do you have in mind for the top pairing via free agency?

Sweeney could agree with you and swing for a bigger top pairing. Chara back for another gives the Bruins a better look 👀 to see if Grzelcyk can be McAvoys full time partner. Sign a player like Dillon who can give you some good minutes with Lauzon/Zboril/Clifton for a few years. See how things shake out. I would rather Sweeney sign a sniper for Krejci.
