I doubt calgary has any interest in that return. Strome is a poor fit in Calgary. If we are trading Hanafin we would need along term core piece or potential core piece coming back.

This does that, gives you a pick, and gives you another 1 mill in cap space to make another move if so be it.</div></div>
Trading Hanafin for scraps was not part of the conversation.
If the Flames are going to shake up the core they are going to want a core or potential core piece back. Miller and a 4th ain't close.
The value is all wrong.

Flames will do this right after Buffalo sends Calgary Jokiharju for Klington and 4th. You know to help with Buffalos log jam on the right side.
It needs to make sense for both teams.
This does not.

8.5 million in cap. For 2 3rds. Need to get realistic. Start with a first and take back 3-4 million and Calgary might pick up the phone.

Calgary would have zero interest in adding 6.5 million in cap space for three mediocre players and giving up picks.
Easy pass for the flames.

I really like Suzuki but 2 first round picks, two serviceable NHL forwards, and JHS seems a bit much. With full recognition of the cap difference.

Missed that calgary trade by about 3 rounds. 4th tops.
A position of no use for a 1st.
Calgary does this the second TO does D. Ryan for a first.
Give your head a shake.

Yeah but it still doesn't meet a need we would still have Tkachuk, Mangiapane, Dube, Lucic down the left. I like debrusk but I just dont see a fit on the flames. We really need a RHS.

Value is ok for Calgary. I just dont see any need met. Moore has little value for Calgary. Debrusk is a good player but LW is not a position of need. If Calgary is to move Hanifin you would think one need would have to be met. 1st is nice but unless other moves are made by the Flames this seems pointless.

I do know that AHl garage and a 4th isn't going to do it.

There needs to be a decent add by Minnesota in picks or prospects to make this happen plus Calgary would have to commit to a rebuild. Which I dont think is in the cards this offseason.

Unless there's retention or money coming back cant see a market for a 35 year old guy who has to be moved to sign his ufa replacement. Plus there is a surplus on the trade/ufa market.
7 million is a huge cap hit on a declining asset. 7 million = 1st round pick.
Western teams would be crazy to bail out vegas from there goalie problem.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ItWasIn</b></div><div>It's a mix of things.
Mason McDonald was the wrong choice, Demko was clearly the #1 goalie in that draft.
Jon Gillies was one of the best goaltending prospects in hockey, then he needed hip surgery. He hasn't been the same goalie since.
There's still hope for Tyler Parsons, he's battled injuries and mental health issues as well. Hopefully, he can get his body right and enjoy the game again.
Hopefully Wolf can buck the trend</div></div>
I hope wolf changes the trend.
Post draft analysis is subjective at best. I do know that the flames draft vs results is gross since 2000. Stop gap solutions have been equally abysmal since Kipper.

Yeah and we continue to give up assets for a patch and it continues to bite calgary in the ass. Rather go a different route.
Calgary has wasted so many assets on goalie trades and draft picks its obscene.
Best case scenario Kampeur is a short term solution and then we have to pay. I would roll the dice on a ufa and Wolf and keep the assets.

I disagree I would way rather keep the assets and pay for one of the ufas. Calgary gets burnt on Coyotes goalies. They are overrated from the system.
