Kuemper is good but I wouldnt even consider that type of payment until after ufa. Even then that's a lot to give up for a goalie in a trend towards tandems.

34 year old goalie that just posted a sub 900 save percent at 4.3+ in salary in the current market = zero to negative value.
Dumba is ok but overrated. Backlund is ok but underrated and older. Rittich is a reasonable 1b goalie.
I dont see this is any type of overstatement.

The origional trade isn't a terrible offer. Calgary probably doesn't do it.
You should have stopped with the first 6 plus Point. Kucherov, Panarin, and Marchand the age factor tilts to Tkachuks favor and Marner is a no, due to the contract and MTs intangibles.
Your point is reasonable.

Yeah I always love the the "to anywhere, value uncertain" posts.
The answer is cap hit is prohibitive to any reasonable value in return.

Kerfoot to Calgary is fine but with no cap going back to TO the return is a 3rd, maybe. Flames just cant take salary back unless it's an over pay.

Love the effort but this is Maple Leafs Fan bad.
Better trade options than Ottawa for those two and contracts are very light for FAs.

Take out the second and it's not ridiculous.
The goalie market is so unpredictable. If you find "your guy" it's super weird to predict goalie values. I cant understand MTL paying for Allen. It's so weird 14.5 + on goalies is insane.
God I hope the Flames dont pay assets for trade scrubs before UFAs are settled.

Second Line Center and More
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Sagecoll</b></div><div>that's 2 quick Ranger declines not there. So far off on the value that it's not really worth constructive criticism.</div></div>
I'm not sure on this but this trade is close. I think this is nicely set up by the orgional post.
That's 14 million plus in cap space versus less than 7 . Which is huge in a flat cap. 7 million is worth at least a late first.
Wall = 0, for Calgary too many goalie prospects. Gauthier barely more, bust.
Trouba cried his way out of Winnipeg and has lost his spot on the right side in NY. 8 million seems a lot for a potential locker room premadona.
Strome is an enigma that I wouldnt pay more than 4 million for.
Monahan has has his issues but hes still a very good center.
It's a strange trade but it's not the normal insanity.

Calgary has no need for either Debrusk or Moore. If Calgary is trading Hanafin it needs to fit a need. RD or RHS forward. I like Debusk but this just isn't a fit.

Hank ain't waving his NMC for calgary and probably 20 or so other teams.
Plus Calgary needs a better longer term solution so even if Hank agreed to move to Calgary it would still be a no.
Way better options for the Flames even at 4.25.

Leafs 2020-21
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BradDillon17</b></div><div>Lol “prospects”.. always overrated. Gawdin and Phillips are good and can compete for that 12th and 13th spots but the main reason the Flames lost is lack of depth scoring and goaltending. They’re probably getting Holtby to fix up the goaltending, they have to address bottom six. You can’t have two average at best rookies, Lucic and Bennett in your bottom six if you want to go anywhere.
What cheaper UFAs could they realistically target that would bring any significant scoring depth to the lineup? Their isn’t much for less than $3 million.</div></div>
1 or 2 prospects to push veterans is always good IMO. You dont think there are going to be cheap veterans on one year deals in ufa? Because with the flat cap I think teams will have there pick of some good short term guys.
If the flames sign a ufa goalie like Holtby we are not adding 3.4 million for a bottom six left shot forward so that arguement doesn't hold water.
You forgot Dube who looked great in the playoffs.
So if you spend and get an actual top six you dont need 3.4 x 3 years wasted in your bottom six because the line up looks like:
JG SM EL
MT MB UFA
DD SB AM
ML DR UFA or prospect
If hes such a fabulous deal in the bottom six why is Toronto trying to trade him. That's the same reason Calgary doesn't need him. Cap number does not work.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BradDillon17</b></div><div>Calgary’s bottom six is absolute garbage they need anyone they can get</div></div>
So the solution to not garbage is rolling out a bottom six including: Lucic, Ryan and Johnsson for 12 million?
Nah I think we deal with our existing cap headaches and work with Dillion Dube, Sam Bennett prospects and cheap ufas to fill out our bottom six.
And before you suggest, no AJ is not in our topic six unless we blow it up in which case why would we trade draft picks.

If Calgary misses out in free agency or the price is cheap before free agency I could see Calgary trading for Freddy.

Calgary ain't doing that. Too many cheaper goalie options. AJ fits no need in Calgary are ready stacked on the left side. Plus Dube was great in the playoffs and is much cheaper.
Calgary could sign anyone of 5 ufa goalies and keep SB, DD and the 2nd round pick for roughly the same cap as AJ and Freddy.
Zero incentive for Calgary to entertain that before free agency.

You dont swap the plus and vs.
Form calgarys stand point you have either:
Ufa goalie + 1st + 2nd
or
Freddy at 6 million.
I have no idea how you are reading this differently. You have the free agent and the picks or Freddy.

Doesn't change the fact that a soon to be fa is going to want a long term expensive contract that could become a cap boat anchor. Plus you dont have the assets you sent for him.
UFA goalie at 7 million plus 1st and 2nd round picks vs Freddy extended at 6 million. No brainer as to which way to go.

You can say the exact same thing about signing Freddy after this year. You cant have that arguement one way and not the other.

I dont mind Fleury but a soon to be 36 year old at 7 million for two more years is the opposite of what the Flames need. Would way rather spend the money and assets else where. For a better solution.
