<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SammyT_51</b></div><div>He is not a bottom-6 player tho. He is fully capable 2nd/3rd line winger who is cost controlled. I believe teams would see players like that and go for them since cap hit value of those players in free agency would be 2 or 2+ million higher than what Johnsson makes. He is the guy you trade 2nd round pick for and becomes 2nd line playmaker/scorer for you.</div></div>

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SAS</b></div><div>I dont see a strong market for these types of players. Contending teams dont have the cap space to fit AJ in at 3.4 x 3 and rebuilding teams would rather have the draft capital. Paying bottom 6 guys on a contending team is going to be tough (and yes he is a third line player on a cup contending team).

Like him as a player it's just a tough set of circumstances trying to move dollars in a flat cap.</div></div>

Look at Johnsson's advanced stats away from Matthews, JT and flanking him Nylander or Marner and they are simply bad. Johnsson is simply a product of his linemates and that product is still only 15 goals and 40 points (what he was on pace for this season). Now couple that with a pretty bad knee injury (assuming ACL or MCL tear) coming back from that is not easy and if there is moderate or worse cartilage damage as well, it is unlikely he will ever be 100%. So those two factors and then top it off with a $3.4M cap hit....no he's not worth more then a 3rd round pick. Leafs may even have to retain on him just to move him for a 3rd rounder.
