Salary Cap Mode: Basic

This gives the Jets a much better looking D core. The likelihood that one of the top 4 D would get taken in expansion is high, but it essentially gives the Jets one more year for Samberg and/or Heinola to be ready for NHL minutes.
It also would take off some money off the cap + MP's $ will be gone. So let's say they leave Dillon unprotected and they take him that's about $3 million in savings (when you swap him for DS or VH) plus the $4.125 of MP, that gives the Jets around $7 million for the Laine/Pionk/Copp/Poolman raises. That's probably enough for reasonable raises for all four.
I guess the only question is does Tampa take that? Maybe they do, maybe they don't. But if they make that trade in addition to getting rid of one of someone like Gourde/Johnson/Palat or whatever, they're in better shape in regards to the cap.
SIDE NOTE:
I don't think the Jets should trade Laine. I think it would haunt them forever.
As much as I'd love the Jets to sign AP, I just don't know how they make the money work. I think they could convince him just on team alone, him QBing that PP would be soooooo nasty.
