I think Kunin and Domi have equal value. Both have holes in their games. Both have (some) positional flexibility. Kunin is a natural leader and a right-handed shooter. Domi has more god-given talent. All square here.
Greenway for the 2nd makes sense. Greenway is the quintessential coach/gm ego piece! Meaning, because of his incredible toolbox, he will always have trade value because gms’ and coaches‘ egos will dictate a belief that THEY are the one who can find his magic button... TBD. A 2nd has a similar floor/ceiling/potential blend. All square here.
That leaves us with Danault and the 16 for the 9 and a ‘21 pick that literally land anywhere in the 1st round. I happen to think Pittsburgh’s Cup window is now closed and this pick will be in the top 14. To be conservative, let’s call it this year’s 9 with next year’s 20 for Danault and this year’s 16... I like Danault a lot! But, there isn’t one player who might be available at 9 that i would trade straight up for him if the player was already in the Wild’s system, so...IMHO, this is where this trade falls off the tracks. Another nice piece needs to be added from Montreal to make the Wild happy and that probably wont make the Habs happy.
It’s a great and creative idea...i just think the value is off too much to make it worthwhile for both teams. Again, IMHO...take it for what it’s worth.
