Because i think they can go to the cup and win so they dont need to spend more money on picks plus i give up the 15 overall for a 9th

MN is giving up the better pick (9 vs 15) and a very strong argument can be made that Fiala is every bit as good a player as Nylander. IF he follows up last season’s breakout with similar output, I think he might even be the better player...Fiala doesnt have the linemates in MN that Nylander has in Tor and he absolutely carried the Wild the last few months of the season!

He's referring to the Pens trade. The Leafs give up an earlier 4th round pick and (according to him) Kerfoot is better than Rust.

Sorry I thought it was Pittsburgh 1st next year. As for the argument Fiala is better because he had a breakout year that was in fact lesser than Nylanders season is silly. Who's to say this season is Nylander's ceiling? Why is it always everyone progresses but Nylander won't? They are the same age, one has produced a lot more.

That’s not the point i was making. I was simply saying that I believe there is a chance...that Fiala ends up the better player. Both are very talented and both have very high ceilings! Simply comparing stats doesn’t completely work here because Fiala broke his leg a couple years back and also has to play with far less talented linemates on the Wild.

My opinion is: I simply dont think the difference (whatever it actually is) between Nylander and Fiala is worth giving up the 9oa for the 15oa.

Fair enough?

With respect, you are wrong. Nylander is criminally underrated. I think he's an elite offensive player, but people see him as a secondary player.

I have the same opinion of Nylander as you do. I just happen to also have an equal opinion of Fiala. Both are tremendous offensive weapons! In fact, i would love to see the two skate on a line together!

The only way Dubas makes this trade is if he thinks Fiala can replace Nylander's productivity (implying the season he just had wasn't a fluke). The only way Guerin makes this trade is if he thinks Nylander can be a top 6 center. Leafs save almost $4m in cap space next year if they make this trade, which again is assuming the 2 points I already made. Sorry, there would be no picks being swapped. Trade would be 1 for 1.
