Arizona trades a draft pick they don't have, 2020 2nd, for a goalie they don't need. Almost like a TML ACGM. You gave Pietrangelo too much money to be an actual TML ACGM....

I'm guessing Arizona trades kuemper and will be happy to have Fred for only $1m real money. the draft pick is theirs according to capfriendly.

they get 2 good young prime players locked up for $2.5m each in real money, and then a couple mil of free capspace to help get to the cap floor.

According to the NHL it's not.

They'd be just as happy with Kuemper/Raanta and Hill for 800K real money...

They don’t need those guys to hit the floor and they’re decent not good. Pick 33 is basically a first and Ottawa has no need to trade that “first” for two guys that really have no need. They could take cap dumps and gain assets in return while keeping this second

Cap floor will not be a problem for Ottawa. Cap ceiling will be a problem for Toronto. Picks going the other way?? Ottawa thinks about it...

OTT quickly declines.

Reaching the floor will not be a problem. You have to convince Melnyk to spend millions he doesnt have to, good luck.

I think Fred for $1m + $4m in free space to help hit the cap floor would be extremely attractive to them after trading Kuemper.

Thats still 5M per year that Melnyk doesnt have to spend.

He can spend 60.5M (or whatever the floor is) on currently rostered players, why would he spend extra money and draft capital to help a divisional rival

because he could trade away guys with the same caphit but higher real salaries, and save money.

OTT doesnt have many/any of those. Melnyk doesnt give signing bonus contracts, and any non-rebuild assets with any value have already been liquidated
