Sens and Laine

Created by: cunningham19
Team: 2020-21 Ottawa Senators
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 24, 2020
Published: Sep. 24, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Laine is on the block why not offer a compelling trade scenario to Winnipeg. They get a 2-3 C, 2 line RW with speed who can play all scenarios, and a first round pick. If laine wants out of Winnipeg and makes it publicly known you can bet the price will go down a bit. FA signings are to help with RD depth and guidance for Brannstrom and Hotsam. Kerfoot replaces tierney at a cheap cost.

If there's any chance PD can swing for the fences and take a big step forward I think this is the way to go!

That package is falling off short quite much. 28th pick and two mid-6 players for an elite sniper is pretty bad honestly.

I'd say Brännström+5th overall is the starting point for the negotiations. Then WPG might add some, but without these pieces it's not going to happen.

Tierney at most a 3rd liner, same with Duclair since Winnipeg is stacked on the wing. The first is ok.

Chevy will want at least a #2C +high end D prospect and a 1st and you provide him with none for Laine, Byfield isn't NHL ready and Lucas Raymond is contractually obligated to his Frolunda team next season so he can't play in the NHL.

I'm of the point of view that if when Winnipeg moves Little they need a younger 2C. Tierney is a good shut down guy who can get 50-55 points with good linemates. Duclair stepped up and the way he's trending could be a consistent 25-30 goal getter. At minimum that's 40-45 goals between the two for laine who has yet to post more than 70 points (could have passed that this year) but he's not in a tier of marner, hall, Pastrnak type guys. A good comparable is Sam rhinehart which I think this deal is enough to secure him as well.

Was more so a view of the future not a set roster. Point was the signings and laine acquisition.

Fine but two 3rd line wingers and a 1st wont get you Laine, 29 other NHL teams would easily beat that offer.

Ur forgetting that these guys played in Ottawa, a crap team, and got the most minutes on the team. Realistically Duclair on a third line won’t do anything for u, maybe 35 ish points. Tierney may be underrated but isn’t better than Little IMO. If I was Winnipeg and had to chose between that or Habs offering let’s say Domi Danault and Mete, I’d laugh at Ottawa

I respect the attempt trying to prey on Pegs weaknesses, but the value exchange isn't there.
You need high level pieces going the other way.

Logan Brown, Brannstrom, 5th overall
