Off-Season Moves

Created by: TWOminutes4surging
Team: 2020-21 Carolina Hurricanes
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 25, 2020
Published: Sep. 25, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
PHX gets their 1st Rd. pick and unloads 2 undesirable players/contracts for some added younger scoring depth. Dzingle in a contract year could fetch a solid return at the deadline. Same for Nino the following year. Canes get their goalie and some veteran depth.

WPG gets a top-4 defender without giving away core players. Carolina gets secondary scoring with Roslovic and a decent asset in Vesalainen.

DET takes on Gardiner to get a good C prospect. Carolina gambles on E. Svech and get him out of a bad situation.

Tampa gets a good prospect and 2 NHL ready bottom pairing D while gaining much needed cap space. CAR gets their 2nd line LW.

The results leave Carolina in a better cap situation with a great 1st line, a real 2nd line, and two 3rd lines. And an upgrade in net.

I think more of the point there was just moving at Gardiner

Detroit's not trading a 23 year old Evgeny Svechnikov for a 30 year old Jake Gardiner. Detroit declines don't need Gardiner.

That means absolutely nothing. We aren't taking your cap issues just to help you out. This off-season is all about gaining assets for taking contracts off of other teams. If you want gardner gone, it's gonna cost you, if you don't want to pay the price then you can keep him and we will happily move forward with our rebuild and no issues whatsoever

TB fan. Killorn is great but that is an overpayment. At best he gets a second and maybe a prospect.

Not good enough, you can keep him and replace him with a better piece or keep the player/cap hit

I personally wouldn't trade him but he is worth it.

You can't reason with these Detroit fans. Gardiner would literally be their 2nd most productive defender and they only have 2 NHL caliber defenders signed for next year I believe. 75% of their line-up are "cap dump" qualifying players, but in order to take on a serviceable D-man (even though they don't even possess more then 2 themselves,) they want Necas in return or it's no deal. "Screw a great 19yo center prospect with NHL bloodlines and pedigree, we want multiple 1st Rd. picks for a a D-man who is at most $500,000 over paid."
