I get that Pesce is good, but I am really hesitant to do this trade. I think Willie is really only scratching the surface of his potential.

He won’t realize his potential in Toronto on the 2nd Line when he deserves to be a 1st liner and The Leafs need to get rid of Willy or Mitch but Mitch contributes more to the team than Willy and getting a Pesce is instantly are best defender in a decade

Not sure I agree with that. Move Mitch back to play with Tavares and put Willie up with AM if required but when your top 2 C's are AM and JT, you can even out the TIO and really mess up the opposing defence. I think a lot of people are placing too much importance on the first and second lines when it can really be a 1a and 1b scenario. A power forward on both lines would really open it up IMO and I consider Hyman to be one.

I know we respective fanbases think our player is too valuable for this one-for-one trade, but it makes sense and would immediately make both teams better. The Leafs have to get a real partner for Reilly, and the Canes have to get scoring away from the top line.
